Review of Creepy Owls Movie

Producer James Cameron has brought his most advanced 3D technology to the audiences with the successful testing on historical box office hits “Avatar”. Well, honestly to say, after the premiering of “Avatar”, 2010 is a terrible year with many low-graded box office movie. Alice In Wonderland with an average plot hits the box office at 1.024 bil USD – I would probably say this is due to the taking part of Johnny Depp. Next, Toy Story 3 (1.050 bil USD), although with a touching plot and is currently the highest gross movie in 2010 – I would say it is because of 3D and the successful of the previous franchise. Until 2010 enters summer, with airing of “Inception” that never reveal any plot in its trailer starts to anticipate not only me, but also many of the movie viewers around the world. The trailer, showing only the spinning totem, the transforming city and appearance of damaged city by waves, makes us think that: “Hey, is Nolan learns Emmerich to make another disaster movie?” With the movie hits box office on July 16, “Your mind is the scene of the crime” starts to reveal its excellent plot, an idea to steal secret from a business empire through dream, known as the idea of “Inception”. Inception is currently the A-graded movie for 2010, without any 3D, it is the third highest gross of 2010 movie, currently at 773mil USD.


Entering the fall, Resident Evil After Life starts to kick off. As I do not watch the movie, I would not make any comments here. However, it seems that many movies tend to film in 3D due to the success of Avatar but still, their 3D is not even up-to-date.


This week, the movie that I have long-waited, Legend of Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole take their flight in cinema, together with the 1987’s Wall Street sequel: Money Never Sleeps.
Box Office analyzers are predicting which of them will top the box office this week. Some have predicted the former while some the latter. With only 80mil budget, the so-called “creep owls movie” will consider success if it manages to reach 200mil gross, same as their company’s previous animated film – Happy Feet (384mil). Well, I would predict owl to top the box office due to the luxurious gross from 3D, even though; Wall Street has a chance to (Well, Wall Street manages to top while owl at second).


Well, Ga’hoole starts off their story with the cutest owl, Eglantine playing with his eldest brother Soren, portraying the characters based on the Guardians of Ga’hoole told by their dad. Soren has a brother, Kludd who is always jealous with Soren as he receives higher attention from his parents. One night, Soren asks Kludd to compete flying, when out of a sudden, they fall from the tree and kidnapped to The Pure Ones (That claim to control the whole world), led by Metalbeak and his mate, Nyra. By chance, Soren meets the small beak species owl, Glyfie.


Kludd is easily influenced by Nyra as he wants to show off his potential is greater than his brother, Soren. Soren asks Kludd to follow him. Kludd refuses to as Soren offers to protect Gylfie who is made servant picking up stuffs, and Kludd does not want to be one of them. He chooses to become the army of The Pure One. Many other owls are kidnapped; they are cursed after watching the moon and made servant. Only Soren and Gylfie pretend to be cursed. One of the Pure One librarian - Grimble, the old owl reveals what they have done, but luckily, he is being secretive to find brilliant owls (He wants to fight back Nyra as The Pure One kidnaps him and kills his family) by teaching them fly. However, Kludd tells Nyra about this and Grimble dies. Soren and Gylfie manage to fly, and they make their way to find the Guardians.


Kludd offers to kidnap his own sister, Eglantine to The Pure One. Worst still, he sets a trap to curse his own sister. On their way to Ga’hoole, Soren and Gylfie meet Twilight and Digger. After crossing the wide sea, they manage to find them and Soren is amazed with what he believes, is existed. The Guardians at first do not believe the existence of The Pure One, claimed by Soren. Allomere is sent to fight The Pure One at first but only manage to save two owls, which one of them is Eglantine. Soren meets Whiskered Screech Owl Ezylryb who is one of the hero of Ga’hoole previous historical war (I forget the name of the war). Soren, with their friends, are trained to fight The Pure One. After recovering, Eglantine angrily tells Soren what Kludd has done to her and Soren realises that Kludd is now alongside with The Pure One. After believing what has actually happen, the lead of Ga’hoole, together with his companions, leads an army to fight The Pure One. At the same time, Soren finds out that Allomere (As promise, Metalbeak will make him the leader of Ga’Hoole) is the traitor and a trap is set up to kill all the Guardians. Soren and his friends quickly go and save them. With the courage in Soren, he uses a flame tea-pot to prevent the Guardians from being killed by the bats. Metalbeak is killed by the flaming branch that Soren makes. Kludd’s beak is broken and he asks for Soren’s help. Soren wants to save him but Kludd plans to trap Soren. Accidentally, Kludd falls into the flaming forest. Nyra is able to escape after The Pure One is defeated.


The story ends after when Soren, Twilight, Digger and Gylfie are made The Young Guardians of Ga’hoole. Any yeah, Themesong To The Sky appears again.


Well, overall, this adaptation of the first three of the book serial is on average. The story is not draggy. As to the director, Zack Snyder’s style, I expect to see many action scenes in slow motion, giving the audience chance to see clearly how the owls are fighting, and this is awesome in 3D! The 3D is amazing too when the owls cross the sea, meet the storm, have a gathering party, and play the leaf lamp (This is TOTALLY beautiful together with the theme song – To The Sky by Owl City). However, an in avoided problem as stated earlier, too many owls with the familiar look. Even me hardly remember all of their names. If for children, they will only remember Soren, Eglantine and Twilight (hahaha). This movie is treated as creepy owl movie as there are many horror scenes, which may scare some of the children. (That’s why I say it is just like Lord of The Ring) Even the antagonist, Kludd is a way too aggressive, who drives me angry for trapping HIS OWN FAMILY, how can he does that huh?


There is ONE IMPORTANT MESSAGE from this story: Believe in yourself, you can do it!

Well, I am agree with many people saying that by writing blog, we can express our bad mood in a better way rather than expressing it to the people around you, which will end up in a fight. It has been 2 months (If I am not mistaken) since I write my blog. Purposely, I write it in English. I do not mean to fight back, but just to express my own opinions.


Sometimes, it is easy for a person to say than to act. Yes, it is easy, say by mouth only. Yes, it is hard, act needs courage.


I still remember the three previous posts that i wrote 2 months ago. Ya, all about my feelings, writing together with my falling tears, without anyone knows.




I also remember the seventh time of radiotherapy, when I vomited during halfway of the process and it was so embarrassed. I knew that those RT in-charged did not blame me, but I knew it was my fault for forcing myself to eat too much that morning. I swore not to vomit again in RT room, and I made it.


It is the second week now after the end of my treatment. Last Wednesday, I managed to eat rice. Not because I listened to my family's advice, but I force myself, together with my painful mouth. So, you could imagine how is it.


7 days after the first follow-up. My weight is increasing 500g. Well, can I consider a good start? No, I am not satisfied. I would want to gain until 54kg but I think I would only make it after I back for second semester. The 54kg-weight was recorded during my first semester in UKM (Perhaps Malay curry rice has a lot of fats huh?)


45.5kg until now, well, it is faster for body weight to decrease while it is hard for body weight to increase. Just like the process you quit smoking. As Chinese people said, it takes 3 days to start smoking but it takes 3 years to quit smoking. Even though body machinery is special, but it also requires time to gain weight. i look up many websites, most of the patients lose greater weight (-35 pounds) than me (-11 pounds). They take few months to gain their weight. So, how do you ask me to gain weight if the body does not? I want to gain more than you want but there is no point of rushing it. It takes time.


Well, I do try to eat as many things as I could. People who do not see it,please do not blame me by stating that i do not eat anything. I know, when I am off to a trip, I need to eat other things, that's why, I try my best. Please bear in mind that, it is no rushing. Forceful leads to failure.


That's all I would like to express. Let me alone. I would like to calm down.


Well, I miss my Nibong Tebal's home. It is absolutely peaceful there.
